This Privacy Notice for Meowkey ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we access, collect, store, use, and share ("process") your personal information when you use our mobile application Meowkey and any website that links to this Privacy Notice (together, the "Services"). If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the Services.
Entertainment-only notice. The charts, fortune readings, and interpretations provided by this app are for entertainment and cultural reference only, and do not constitute medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice. Users are responsible for their own decisions.
How this policy applies across our Services.
- Both iOS and web: account credentials (email or SSO identifier), transactional email (verification, password reset), your profile and the charts stored with your account, and product analytics so we can understand which features people use.
- Web application: product analytics through Mixpanel and Vercel Web Analytics.
- iOS app: product analytics through PostHog.
- We do not include third-party advertising SDKs on any surface, and we do not sell your personal information.
Summary of key points
- What we collect: account info (email + hashed password, or Apple / Google identifier), and — on both iOS and the web — profile and chart data tied to your account, plus product analytics.
- On-device cache (iOS): the app keeps a local cache of your profile and charts. Deleting the app removes only that cache. The account copy remains on our servers until you delete the account.
- Sensitive information: we do not collect data that is "sensitive" or "special" under applicable law (e.g. race, sexual orientation, religion, biometrics).
- Third-party data: when you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive the identity payload they return. For Sign in with Apple we also store a refresh token, used only to revoke that authorization when you delete your account. We do not buy data from data brokers.
- How we use it: to create your account, deliver the service, keep it secure, and comply with law. We do not use your data for advertising and do not sell it.
- Sharing: only with the processors who run the service (Supabase, Apple, Google, Resend, Mixpanel and Vercel on the web, and PostHog on iOS) and only when needed for them to do their job.
- Where it lives: server-side data is in Supabase, hosted on AWS
us-east-1 (United States).
- Your rights: access, correct, or delete your data. Settings → Delete account removes the account, the profile and charts stored with it, and the on-device cache. Sign in with Apple is revoked when that was how you signed in.

1. What information do we collect?
In short: we collect information you give us when you create an account and use the app.
Information sent to our servers (both iOS and web)
- Account credentials — email address and password (we never store the plain password; Supabase Auth stores a hash).
- Single sign-on identifier — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a stable user identifier and the email address (which may be Apple's private relay address; see §4).
- Sign in with Apple refresh token — if you sign in with Apple on iOS, we exchange Apple's one-time authorization code for a refresh token and store it with your account. It is used only to revoke Sign in with Apple when you delete the account. It is not used to sign you in.
- Session tokens — issued by Supabase Auth. On iOS they are stored in the iOS Keychain; on the web they are stored in the browser's local storage.
- Profile — nickname, gender, birth date, birth time, birth place (city name, latitude and longitude, and timezone), tied to your account. On both iOS and the web, this birth data is sent to our servers so the chart can be calculated. The chart is not calculated on the device.
- Chart data — the charts you generate, stored with your account so they can be shown to you across sessions.
- Product analytics events — on the web, sent to Mixpanel and Vercel Web Analytics; on iOS, sent to PostHog (see §3). We use this to understand which features people use. It is not used for advertising.
The iOS app also keeps a cache of your profile and charts on the device. Deleting the app removes only that cache.
Sensitive information
We do not process sensitive information as defined by GDPR Art. 9, CCPA, or comparable laws.
Google API
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. How do we process your information?
In short: to provide and improve the Services, communicate with you, and comply with law. We do not use your data for advertising.
- To create and authenticate your account. If you signed in with Apple, we keep Apple's refresh token so we can revoke that authorization when you delete the account.
- To deliver the chart calculation and interpretation that you request. Your birth data is processed for this purpose.
- To send you transactional email (verification, password reset). We use Resend as our email service provider.
- To keep the service secure — rate-limiting, abuse detection.
- To comply with legal obligations, when applicable.
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?
In short: only with the processors who run the service for us.
Processors / subprocessors
- Supabase Inc. — database and authentication. Data is stored in AWS
us-east-1 (United States).
- Apple Inc. — Sign in with Apple.
- Google LLC — Sign in with Google (only when you choose this method).
- Resend — transactional email delivery (verification, password reset).
- Mixpanel — product analytics for the web application, in production. Events are tied to your account. Session replay is enabled. Not used in the iOS application.
- Vercel Web Analytics — page analytics for the web application, in production. Not used in the iOS application.
- PostHog — product analytics for the iOS application, only when the app is built with an analytics key. The default host is
https://us.i.posthog.com. It records app lifecycle events, identifies your account, and records when a feature flag is read. It does not automatically capture screens or touches, and it is not an advertising SDK. Not used on the web.
Third-party services for geocoding and timezone lookup
To turn the city name you type into coordinates, and the coordinates into an IANA timezone, the app calls a small number of public geocoding services directly from your device. We do not proxy these requests through our own servers and we do not store the queries.
- OpenStreetMap Foundation (Nominatim) and Photon (komoot.io) — geocoding for birth-place search. When you type a location into the birth-place field, your search text, language preference, and IP address are sent to these services to return matching place names and coordinates. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy and Photon's terms.
- timeapi.io and BigDataCloud — timezone resolution. After you pick a birth place, the coordinates and your IP address are sent to one of these services to obtain the IANA timezone for that location.
These services may log standard request metadata (IP address, user-agent string, timestamp) under their own privacy policies. We do not receive or store that metadata.
Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you and update this notice if your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Legal requests
We may disclose your information when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
We do not sell your personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and do not include any advertising SDK on any surface. Product analytics is described above: Mixpanel and Vercel Web Analytics on the web, PostHog on iOS.
4. How do we handle your social logins?
In short: if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identity payload they return. For Apple, we also store a refresh token so the authorization can be revoked when you delete your account.
Sign in with Apple
When you sign in with Apple, Apple returns a stable user identifier and an email address. If you choose Hide My Email, the email is a private relay address — we receive only that relay, and any email from us is delivered to your real address through Apple's relay. We respect your choice and will not attempt to obtain your underlying address.
On iOS we also receive a one-time authorization code. We exchange it with Apple for a refresh token and store that token on our servers, tied to your account. When you delete the account, we send the token to Apple to revoke Sign in with Apple, then delete our copy. We do not use the token for anything else.
Sign in with Google
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture URL, and Google account identifier. Our use of this data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy and the Limited Use requirements.
We do not access your contacts, calendar, files, or any other Apple or Google account data beyond what is necessary to identify you. We do not post to your social accounts.
5. How long do we keep your information?
In short: only as long as needed for the purposes in this notice.
- Active accounts (server-side): retained until you delete the account.
- Unverified email signups: when you sign up with email and password, an account record is created in our authentication system. We do not automatically delete unverified accounts — the record is retained until you verify your email or request deletion. Verification links sent by email expire after a limited period; you can request a new one in the app.
- Chart data (iOS and web): retained on our servers while your account is active; removed when you delete a chart or delete your account.
- iOS on-device cache: a copy of your profile and charts stays on the device until you delete the app or delete your account in the app. Deleting the app removes only that cache. The copy stored with your account remains on our servers until the account is deleted.
- Sign in with Apple refresh token: kept until you delete the account. Deletion revokes it with Apple and removes our copy.
- Deleted accounts: Settings → Delete account runs in the app and cannot be undone. It removes the account, the profile and charts stored with it, and the copy cached on that device. If you signed in with Apple, we revoke that Sign in with Apple authorization first, then delete our copy of the refresh token. Email and Google accounts are deleted the same way; there is no Apple authorization to revoke. We do not keep our own backup, and we cannot restore the account. You can register again afterwards, including with the same Apple ID. Limited records may be retained where required by applicable law (for example, in response to a legal request or to comply with tax or accounting obligations).
6. How do we keep your information safe?
In short: reasonable technical and organisational measures, but no system is 100% secure.
- Passwords are hashed by Supabase Auth before storage. We never see or store your plain password.
- All traffic between the app and our servers uses TLS.
- Session tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain, isolated from other apps by the operating system sandbox.
- The on-device cache of profile and chart data in the iOS app is protected by iOS application sandboxing and hardware-backed file encryption.
- Database access is restricted by Row-Level Security policies in Supabase.
Despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission or storage is fully secure. You should keep your device and account credentials safe and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
7. What are your privacy rights?
In short: you can review, change, or terminate your account at any time.
Account control
- Review and edit profile — in the app: Me → Edit profile.
- Delete account — in the app: Settings → Delete account. This removes the account, the profile and charts stored with it, and the on-device cache. Sign in with Apple is revoked when that was the sign-in method. Deletion is immediate and cannot be restored.
- Withdraw consent — at any time by deleting your account or by contacting us at the address in §10.
EU / EEA / UK users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our processing relies on contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) for delivering the service and on legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for security and fraud prevention. International transfers from the EU/UK to Supabase in the United States are protected by Supabase's Standard Contractual Clauses. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California users (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information.
8. Controls for Do-Not-Track features
Most browsers and some mobile operating systems include a "Do-Not-Track" (DNT) feature. No uniform standard for honouring DNT signals has been finalised; we therefore do not currently respond to DNT signals. We do not use advertising SDKs. Product analytics is described in §3.
9. Do we make updates to this notice?
We may update this notice from time to time. The updated version is indicated by a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in the app and, where required, by email.
10. How can you contact us?
If you have questions or comments about this notice, contact us at contact@meowkey.io.
11. How can you review, update, or delete the data we collect from you?
Different rights map to different paths:
- Review your data (access). Contact us at the address in §10 and ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days, or sooner where required by law, and provide a portable export where applicable.
- Correct inaccurate data (rectification). You can edit your profile directly in the app under Me → Edit profile. If the data you need to change is outside what the app exposes, contact us and we will make the change.
- Delete your data (erasure). Use Settings → Delete account in the app. That deletes the account, the profile and charts stored with it, and the on-device cache, and revokes Sign in with Apple when you used it. If you can no longer access the app (for example, you lost your sign-in method), contact us and we will delete the account on your behalf after verifying your identity.
